Underground Mine Tour
Slip on a hard hat and travel a half mile underground on a tour of Minnesota’s first iron ore mine. Experience the life of a miner from the last century. Public tours run daily Memorial Day weekend through September and weekends into October. Group and educational tours are available year-round. Learn more about underground mine tours.
Soudan Mine tours
The underground mine tours have been suspended until 2023 due to a shaft rehabilitation project. Join us instead for an interpreter-led surface tour that helps show the rest of the story regarding the mining process. Tours begin Memorial Day Weekend, reservations open April 1. Learn more about the Soudan Mine tours.
Only have an hour to visit?
1. Hike the Hiking Club Trail to the banded iron formation, a unique geological feature. 2. Walk the West Tower Mine Trail to a boardwalk overlooking the deepest mine pit. 3. Bike sections of the Mesabi Trail.
